It will cut down the time of the usual course
University of Montana’s Alexander Blewett III School of Law in partnership with Carroll College is introducing two educational courses. This will speed up the time for completion of a degree at the curtailed price.
The agreement was signed between John Cech, the President of Carroll College and Paul Kirgis, the Dean of the Alexander Blewett III School of Law in Helena on Tuesday. They agreed on the curriculum of the new program that is going to be offered to the students.
There are two new programs that will be available; one is a six-year course in which the student will have to first complete three years in Carroll College after that they will attend the law school for another three years. In six years they will get a bachelor’s degree and a law degree which usually takes seven years.
The other program is of five years, it will provide the student with a bachelor’s degree in political science from Carroll. After that, they will get a master’s degree in Public Administration from Blewett School. The program will take one year less than the normal course.
The programs not only save time but also cost-effective
The respective representatives of both the institutions were happy and said that the programs will aid the students to complete their degrees faster than usual and decrease the hindrances they face while entering a program.
John Cech said, “It saves students one full year of education. That’s saving them a year of not paying tuition or fees or residence halls fees, and they can go to work right away and start earning a living wage as an attorney. All of those together may mean that the students are saving 100,000 dollars.”
The program will not only be completing the degree quickly but it will provide them time to get into a job in a quick time as well. Paul Kirgis said, “Montana has access to justice problem. We do not have enough lawyers in this state to serve the needs of all our people, and because of that, we need to be producing lawyers who will serve their communities here in Montana.”
The programs will be availed to the Students of Carroll College this academic year. John Cech hoped the agreement between a public and a private institution will set an example moving forward.
