According to WIRES, ecologists from the University of Sydney have estimated over 800 million animals have been affected by across Australia since the bushfires began in September 2019. There are still over 100 raging fires burning across the country. Summer is always an extremely busy season for wildlife rescue and in December 2019 WIRES volunteers attended over 3,300 rescues.
Cameo, a platform enabling fans to purchase personalized videos from their favorite pop culture personalities, offered hands that Cameo and their participating talent will donate a portion of their proceeds to benefit wildlife affected by bushfires in Australia.
“Our team has been heartbroken by the images of harmed wildlife coming out of Australia,” said Cameo CEO Steven Galanis. He continued, “We wanted to help and we’re fortunate that so many members of the Cameo Fameo have agreed to donate a portion of their Cameo proceeds to such a worthy cause.”
Starting January 9th through January 17, 2020, Cameo is proud to donate a percentage of fulfilled Cameo requests from select talent to WIRES.
Over 600 Cameo talent including Emmanuelle Chriqui, Josh Gates, Gilbert Gottfried, Mark Duplass, Jim O’Heir, Vicki Gunvalson, Ray Lewis, Scheana Shay, and Australian sport legends Brad Hogg, Mark Geyer, and Anthony Koutoufides have joined the fundraising effort, with a full list of participating talent listed on the Cameo homepage throughout the duration of the campaign.
As Australia’s largest wildlife rescue and rehabilitation organization working for over 30 years, WIRES is licensed to rescue and care for wildlife in NSW and has over 2,500 volunteers in 28 branches.
