Encourage Science in society
The authorities of Queensland have approved the new funds for science projects in different domains. The fresh funding of 1.48 million dollars will help the schools, communities, and organizations involved in different kinds of projects.
The purpose of the grant is to encourage young people and society to get involved in science. The fund is meant to bridge the gap between STEM education and the skills required to get the job in STEM.
There were different projects submitted by schools, scientists, and communities out of which 15 have granted the funding. The projects from Gold Cost City Council who operates the Girls who STEM project, Drone coding Workshop and Rocket Science Adventure of Western Downs Regional Council, and a project of a private organization who is working to enhance the applicability of science to improve the lives of the community are the few in this list.
Help the young scientist to develop
Paul Bertsch, Queensland Chief Scientist Professor said, “All the grants are targeted toward programs that get people to involve in science is a major strength of the program.” We want to identify demystify science, to show that science is existing. That it’s all about curiosity, experimentation, problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity and very much working in t teams, which is the way most science, is done these days.”
He also told that this will make the young minds of the city get involved in science, which will open the new doors of opportunities in the sector of livelihood. As of now, seven rounds of funding have been concluded in which around 1.2 million dollars have been granted to 128 beneficiaries.
Leeanne Enoch, Minister of Science said, “ We know that employment in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEM) is growing two times faster than other occupations and we are committed to embracing these opportunities.”
