Thousands of players are already playing without knowing it
Cloud gaming is the new business game for tech giants such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and many other players. Now, Facebook is taking small steps into the world of cloud gaming. But how will the most used social media platform survive against the accelerated legs?
To root the cloud gaming service deep, Facebook’s strategy and execution are quite different as is monetization. FB wanted to be a part of an instant gaming experience for a very long time. With this, FB hopes to go back to its roots and bring the immersive game experience to the masses. The fact is, you can’t throw a stone without hitting somebody else doing car gaming.
What’s unique and interesting?
Facebook wants the casual people who might not even consider themselves to be gamers to pick this up and start playing. The fun fact with the Asphalt 9 development process is; on the back of the 380 million people who already play games on Facebook, 200 thousand of them are already playing Asphalt 9 weekly without knowing it’s cloud gaming. It’s a successful test!
The games will require just 1 Mbps speed, and if they encounter a problem, a shortcut will be saved so that excitement will remain. From top to bottom of the screen observation, FB is not doing the subscription business i.e., free to play. On the other hand, the cross-play feature will allow gamers to play cross-generational games like Fortnite, Fall Guys, Among Us, and many more.
“Developers will be able to use cloud playable ads on the news feed to promote their games,” said Facebook.
Currently, the cloud gaming service is only available for the US android and PC users but soon developers and players will be a part of the journey.
