UAE announces the establishment of the world’s first Artificial Intelligence Mohamed bin Zayed University (MBZUAI) at Masdar City in Abu Dhabi. It is the first graduate-level, research-based AI University in the world. MBZUAI will enable graduate students, businesses, and governments to advance artificial intelligence.
The announcement was made at a press conference at the university campus and was immediately followed by the first meeting of the MBZUAI trustees. The university is named after His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, who has long advocated for the UAE’s development of human capital through knowledge and scientific thinking to take the nation into the future.
Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of State and Chairperson of Mohamed bin Zayed University said, “The Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) is an open invitation from Abu Dhabi to the world release AI’s full potential,”
Artificial intelligence technology for future benefits
MBZUAI will introduce a new model of academic and research to the field of AI, providing students and faculty access to some of the world’s most advanced AI systems.
This university will have key areas in the field of Machine Learning, Computer Vision, and Natural Language Processing.
The UAE is rolling out its biggest effort to develop a workforce proficient in artificial intelligence, as the rapidly advancing technology transforms economies worldwide.
MBZUAI University will also provide all admitted students with a full scholarship, plus benefits such as monthly allowance, health insurance, and accommodation.
On the opening event of MBZUAI, Dr. Sultan Al Jaber said, “The world has entered a new era of technological advancement and rapid innovation, all driven and underpinned by AI. This new era will pave the way for unprecedented opportunities, AI has become a priority and evident across all industries with new technologies being introduced at an incredibly fast pace.”
Provisional President and member of the board of trustees with an extensive background of artificial intelligence, robotics, Sir Michael Brady has joined the university. The formation of the university devoted to Artificial Intelligence is huge step in the AI field.
