The African-American best-known scientist and astrophysicist, Neil deGrasse Tyson with his uncanny ability to convey complex cosmic concepts to average people is now teaching at MasterClass, the platform that makes it possible for anyone to learn from the best. Neil deGrasse Tyson was just nine years old when he became fascinated by the mysteries of the cosmos. Today he’s known worldwide for inspiring others to consider the world—and the universe—around us. The astrophysicist, director at the world-renowned Hayden Planetarium in New York City, and science influencer has been a powerful advocate for science literacy with a popular television series and the NYT–bestselling book “Astrophysics for People in a Hurry” and “Accessory to War: The Unspoken Alliance Between Astrophysicist and the Military.” Tyson’s professional research interests are broad and include star information, exploding stars, dwarf galaxies, and the Milky Way structure. Tyson obtains his data from the Hubble Space Telescope, as well as from telescopes in California, New Mexico, Arizona, and in the Andes Mountains of Chile. Tyson is also the first occupant of the Fredrick P. Rose Directorship of the Haydon Planetarium.
