The San Francisco-based software development company Niantic recently held one of the biggest events of the year—Pokemon GO Tour: Kanto. The ticketed event allowed players to encounter and capture every Pokemon from the first two games, plus their shiny forms including Shiny Ditto and Shiny Mew. With the event coming to a close, let us see what Pokemon GO has in store for the players in March.
The March Community Day
The first confirmed event of next month is the Pokemon GO March Community Day. The event will feature the Tiny Robin Pokemon, Fletchling. Players will a higher chance of encountering the shiny form of the Pokemon. They will get 3x catch XP and incense will last for three hours. Moreover, any Fletchinder that is evolved during the event period will become a Talonflame that knows Incinerate.
Beginning of the New Season
March 1 will see the beginning of the new Pokemon GO Season. December 1- March 1 was the season of celebration within the game and saw a range of events and new Pokemon released as part of it. As the real-world seasons start to change, the in-game ones also change and March will usher in the second season released within the game.
Niantic is steering away from the traditional seasons such as summer, autumn, etc., and is instead opting for its own season of celebration. However, one thing is sure that the common Pokemon we have been seeing over the last three months will be rotated out for new ones.
Other Possible March Events
March was a quiet month for Pokemon GO last year and it will be interesting to see if that changes this year. St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated on March 17, and Pokemon GO has taken part in this holiday before with a special Pikachu and the release of green Pokemon.
Moreover, February 27 marks Pokemon Day. So there could be a big event to celebrate that—which could roll across into early March. March 20 marks the Spring Equinox and could also present an event opportunity. Besides these predictions, however, it remains to be seen what Niantic will do.
